Swim
Comments: I swear my time is better than what was posted! What would you do differently?: Train more and swim more of it freestyle. I also need to put myself in a faster group. Transition 1
Comments: I was pretty pleased here, I didn't have much to do here. I did wear 2 heavy long sleeve shirts that slowed me down to put on and to wear. What would you do differently?: Not use the restroom! I need better shirts/gear. Bike
Comments: My chain came off on mile 2 and cost me a couple of minutes and some stress. I was assisted by a great volunteer. (thank you). I was so slow, but I didn't train outside hardly at all- so that is what I get. What would you do differently?: Train more outside and longer distances. I didn't do enough in my training and it showed and cost me. I take full responsibility. Transition 2
Comments: Very easy since I ran in the same shoes I biked. All I needed to do was grab my IPOD. Run
Comments: I walked, jogged, walked, jogged, then sprinted the last 100 yds. I passed 10 and was passed by 3-4. I tried to stay with this one guy and we kept trading the lead, but he got me in the end by 20 seconds. What would you do differently?: Wear my Vibram 5 finger shoes, I didn't like the regular shoes. Post race
Warm down: not much, the volunteers basically rip the chip off your leg 5 seconds after you finish- kinda annoying. My wife and younger daughter were at the finish with a gift and a smile- how lucky am I? What limited your ability to perform faster: 2 heavy long sleeve shirts. Poor bike training Bike problems on course Didn't like the shoes I had on. Overconfidence Event comments: I thought the staff did a great job. The race was very well organized and fun. This is a great first race and I'm sure many returners enjoy it also. Beautiful country bike ride. Somewhat challenging course- but shouldn't it be? Great job staff and organizers. I don't have one? I just spent time with my family and stretched, smiled, and affirmed. I guess that qualifies, I did some mental work. I thought about how lucky I am to have this opportunity, to have the strength, the family support, the money, live in this country, etc. I am very blessed. I'm not great or even average at this, but I will get better and I'm thankful.
I did not warm up at all.
