Comments:

Still, this was a swim PR!
What would you do differently?:

I don't feel I pushed this swim. Think I can do more but didn't want to get too tired for the distance of the entire race.... next year if I'm in better shape I will hit it harder on the swims! Also I need to use my antifog. I had to stop 6 times to clear goggles. That's slowing me way down...
Transition 1

Comments:

mosey'd a bit here
Bike
  • 1h 19m 25s
  • 22 miles
  • 16.62 mile/hr
Comments:

one gel and one granola bar on bike (in 2 parts). Also, drank a double bottle of energy drink.
What would you do differently?:

Hit it harder? But I had a good time on bike and didn't feel anaerobic, which is often my problem when I go out too too hard. I would reset my clock and make sure it works BEFORE the race!!!
Transition 2
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

Mine was the slowest transition in my AG, but I HAVE to change socks!!! Otherwise blisters are unbearable from the wet socks on bike.
What would you do differently?:

go faster?
Run
  • 1h 01m 52s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 09m 59s  min/mile
Comments:

YEAH PR!!!
under 10min miles!!!
The weather was ideal and I didn't push it on the bike so this was doable. Also, I tried keeping my running pace with short steps but then walking when I needed to catch my breath and this is faster than just slowing down the run. I noticed a woman at Fest of Flowers who used this strategy while I didn't and she ended up beating me in the end. She had "more" leftover. But my socks did get wet and i got blisters too. What to do for heymey?
What would you do differently?:

I had a bit too much kick at the end. So I should've pushed it harder but I was sore afterward and yesterday as well.

Also, I need to eat more on the bike or at the beginning of the run. I had one gel on run, but my stomach was growling again.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

psychological factors. i didn't think i had a chance to place in AG so I didn't "GO for it". I couldn't pushed more on bike and more on run. But the good news is I enjoyed it and didn't feel sick or dizzy once. No goosebumps either. I am starting to get into shape.

Event comments:

there were no gels to be had. I didn't realize there wouldn't be, so next time, plan to bring at least one on the run.

Course: Bad start; I shouldn't let people be in front of me for the start, but I was hoping to get more of a push off. They started all women Age Group together, so it was a crowd! The crowded theme carried all the way through. I kept getting bottlenecked by groups of 5 -- hard to swim around. Every time I was entering the "zone" I would come upon a group! Plus it was a 2 lap deal with a short jaunt on the beach in between. strange. anyway, good news: my sighting is getting much more fluid. I look out front after stroking, not looking before or after breathing and this works great. much faster. I didn't breaststroke around buoys as I often do.
