Swim
What would you do differently?: Train harder, more consistently, get in the water earlier in the season--basically, get more comfortable with open water, then the temperature before trying it again. Transition 1
Comments: Since I was wearing socks--since I had been running--they got hung up in the velcro. Had to stop to get a foot in and start again. What would you do differently?: No socks Bike
Comments: Despite the wind and two massive climbs, I felt I held a cadence around 90 rpm really well. What would you do differently?: Not much...felt really strong. Transition 2
Comments: Pretty smooth--I took my time; Paul's time was much quicker. What would you do differently?: Hurry. Run
Comments: Felt like I was shuffling most of the way. My first run--during the swim--was much quicker, though I'm not recording a time since I turned at the wrong spot and was waiting a long time for the swim to come into sight since it started late. The heat and sun made it brutal; the bugs made it almost intolerable running with the wind. What would you do differently?: More brick workouts or transition workouts. Post race
Warm down: Water and waited for others. What limited your ability to perform faster: Preparation. Event comments: The water temperature during that time of year is something to get used to--I might consider it again in the future. Last updated: 2010-01-29 12:00 AM

After "testing" the waters the afternoon before, I panicked about swimming and decided to not do the swim...thus, DQing myself. Cleared it with an official and the race director and was allowed to do the bike and run. To make things fair against Paul, I decided to run the course during the swim.
Not much.
