Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4 am. Ate 2 pancakes with syrup, coffee and an Activia yogurt. Ate pasta with turkey ground meat the night before. Prepared race bag the night before. Got to race site around 6 am.
Event warmup:

Not much. Just jogged for less then 5 minutes.
Run
  • 17m 30s
  • 1.9 miles
  • 09m 13s  min/mile
Comments:

Went out at a good pace. Kept to my routine. HR around 170.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 1
  • 02m 6s
Comments:

Delay getting into my shoes. Hard to put them on while legs were tired from run. Kept wanting to fall over.
What would you do differently?:

Stoop down or sit while putting shoes on.
Bike
  • 56m 28s
  • 17 miles
  • 18.06 mile/hr
Comments:

Mostly downhill and super fast. Enjoyed the bike ride more than I thought I would. Surprised at split. HR around 180 which was too high but somehow I was able to maintain pace and had enough for run.
What would you do differently?:

Hope to repeat same type of ride at the New Jersey Sprint.
Transition 2
  • 01m 58s
Comments:

Better transition than the first. Someone put their bike on my corner and simply put my bike on someone else's spot.
What would you do differently?:

Spent a little too much time hydrating for run. Should have done it on bike.
Run
  • 32m 34s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

Surprised at split. Just kept a steady pace and tried to get to finish line as fast as possible.
What would you do differently?:

Running clearly shown as my weak leg. Need to improve speed and endurance on the run.
Post race
Warm down:

Yeah right.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Felt good and felt I performed at my capability. This was first race and have made note of areas for improvement. Specifically, more bike and run training.

Event comments:

Upset about the cancellation of the swim but realize they have to be concerned about safety, especially with all the drowings that have happened in the year. The pre-race day pick-up was very unorganized as no one knew where the hell to go. Didn't even bother with the post race buffett as the line was beyond ridiculous. Just grabbed a coke and a luna bar and waited to go to McDonalds afterwards.
