Total Time = 1h 12m 9s
Overall Rank = 18/178
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 4/32
Pre-race routine:

Cup of coffee, 2 waffles with peanut butter and a yogurt
Swim
  • 05m 41s
  • 300 yards
  • 01m 53s / 100 yards
What would you do differently?:

I need to enter a faster swim time. I was watching the swim for a while and I think a lot of people put in their all out effort 100 yard time, not pace. Caught up with a girl in front of me. She was about a lane ahead of me when I started, but suddenly I was right next to her at the start of lane 11.
Transition 1
  • 01m 6s
Comments:

Put my bike shoes in transition and ran with them. Haven't quite mastered the running mount yet.
Bike
  • 40m 49s
  • 14 miles
  • 20.58 mile/hr
Comments:

Good ride.
Transition 2
  • 01m 29s
Comments:

Dismount went off fine. Fumbled with my running shoes, because my feet were a little sweaty and probably lost 15-20 seconds getting them on.
What would you do differently?:

Need to grease up my shoes with body glide or a thin film of vaseline to correct this problem.
Run
  • 23m 6s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 26s  min/mile
What would you do differently?:

Grease up shoes a little. Missed 3rd place in my age group by 13 seconds, because of fumbling with my run shoes...oh well...still very happy.
Post race
Warm down:

Pizza, Pizza and some more Pizza...only needed a cold beer.

Event comments:

I am really proud of my wife. She did this race for the first time this year (as a matter of fact her first tri). She did really good and now she has the bug as well. She already ordered a wetsuit and wants to get clipless pedals and shoes for her bike. We are doing the Kristi Lake Tri on May 15th.

Performance: Good
Course: Mostly flat, couple of hills. I wonder if the course was really 3.1 miles. 23 minutes is very fast for me. The run was great though. I really had no mentionable transition from bike to run. I liked how they had rerouted the finish chute to the main road. I thought it added a nice touch.
