Swim
Comments: I suck at swimming, let's face it. I can only get better if I actually practice. But I figured that I am not scared in the pool only in open water. It is the fear of the unknown. The water was shallow but I just couldn't get any rhythmn. I need to do something about this fear! What would you do differently?: PRACTICE!! Transition 1
Comments: took me 5 friggin' minutes to get out of my wetsuit. Plus I was hyperventilating after the swim. Calm down Ted, it's just a friggin race!!! What would you do differently?: Too many things to list! But I did run to T1 rather than walk! A for effort, right?? Bike
Comments: If not for the inability to get my GARMIN into Multi-sport mode I probably would have gone faster. Stupid GARMIN!! I wasn't really comfortable in my saddle, I kept on pushing myself back. What would you do differently?: Go all out! Transition 2
Comments: Not bad at all. Sure, I could have been faster but at least I was twice as fast as T1 What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Run
Comments: I am really proud of myself here. This is the first triathlon where I did not stop and walk. I thought about it but I started to feel stronger. When I did tire, I just slowed down and then picked up the pace after a little bit. I probably could have gone under 9 min/mile but that is okay. Another Team Marathon Bar member ran by me and shouted some encouragement. What would you do differently?: Nothing. This was perfect for me, just don't walk. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed some energy drink. Talk to the family and friends. Grabbed some food. I never stretch out. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training. Event comments: I had fun and that was the point. I didn't drown or walk or fall. I enjoyed the scenery and the people around me. This was perfect. Yes, I could have swam more of the course but I finished!! Oh yeah, I stuck around till the end when they the raffle. The first person won a wetsuit, the second number was called and no one came forward. They announced another number instead and lo and behold, "Number 684, Ted Mulch come up and grab your wetsuit!!" Nice!!! Last updated: 2010-01-31 12:00 AM

Woke up around 5am, grabbed a bagel, banana and a diet coke. Got my race chip, put my running gear in T2 (there were two transition areas, 1 mile apart), then brought my bike down to the T1. Got my body marked and drank some horrible HEED. YUCK.
Three, yes three potty breaks. I was getting nervous. Saw a friend of my wife's family so I talked to him awhile. Saw a guy that was friend's with my brother-in-law. He decided he was only doing the swim. Wife, sister-in-law, and kids showed up about 15 minutes before wave. Squeezed into my seldom used wetsuit and started to panic!
