Swim
Comments: Had problems controlling breathing and just couldn't pull it together very effectively. Lots of breast stroke and side stroke. What would you do differently?: Practice more (ha ... any) open water swimming. Unfortunately was out of town the weekend before so wasn't able to make it to the practice swims. Transition 1
Comments: Short run up to transition from the lake. Put on my running shoes and belt with bib number. Grabbed and drink of water. What would you do differently?: Maybe go back to wearing Yankz? Bike
Comments: I was most worried about the bike since I hadn't been training much the last few weeks but felt really good. Great course to ride and felt this was my best event. What would you do differently?: Nothing, except more training. Transition 2
Comments: Already had my running shoes and bib number on, so just took off the helmet and took off. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: Felt good off the bike but was disappointed in my run. The sun was out by the time I started and it was very muggy. Still felt I should have been able to do better. What would you do differently?: Have a little more confidence and push a little harder. Post race
Warm down: Had a bottle of cold water, breakfast taco, and some mini chick-fil-a biscuits. Changed my clothes and headed back home. What limited your ability to perform faster: I think I would have done better if the race was a month earlier. My training has suffered the last 4 weeks with my stepfather's death and the possibility of relocating to OKC. I think it would have helped if I had been able to practice the swim the weekend before and ride the bike route. Event comments: Overall a really nice race. Will definitely plan on coming back again next year! Last updated: 2010-02-01 12:00 AM

Checked bike on Friday night. Set alarm for 5:30am but woke at 4:00am, couldn't go back to sleep. Showered and fixed snack to take.
Walked over to race site. Ate almond butter and honey on whole wheat and drank half a coke. Walked around and got acquainted with course. Would have done a warm up swim but would have had to wait around an hour in a wetsuit since my wave was last.
