Run
Comments: I was super nervous about this race. I have raced a ton this year and had really good results. I could have requested first wave but I didn;t want it. I wanted to start back so that I would have less pressure at the start and also so I could have people to catch. Well 2nd wave didn't really give me much to catch but I felt more relaxed. The plan I had was to run this first 2 miles at a comfy fast pace ..not a hectic sprint. And I felt great! Loved it. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: Pretty good tranistion. I need to get a little smoother with my mounts..that might be a goal for next year. Bike
Comments: Road surface was more bumpy than smooth and it was dry/wet. My plan had me going hard on the bike. I felt really good when I got there and I pushed it to the max. I had the best cornering that I have had all year. Played cat and mouse with a couple of other racers for most of the 2nd half..caught both of them on the 2nd run (hee-hee). I did struggle a bit around mile 15..my left leg tends to go numb and I know it is a fit issue..one of my off season goals is to get that settled..or maybe I will just get a new bike ;) Like I said in the begininng of this report the weather forecast was for no rain after 8:00...hmmm last 2 miles I felt a drop and then another..and another...and then the drops decided to come down double time and double sized! That was not fun at all!!!! Luckily I was pretty much all alone so all I had to worry about was myself and for some reason I couldn't stop thinking about how my running shoes were going to be squishy wet when I got back to them. What would you do differently?: I am really happy with this split..the bike is my weak point but I plan on changing that for next year :) Transition 2
Comments: I could have taken a few seconds off of this if my hands hadn't been numb and slippery. I couldn't get my helmet off!!! I was so frustrated...I should have just ran out of transition and fiddled with it while I ran but that probably would have looked really stupid ;) What would you do differently?: Gotten hand warmers??? Run
Comments: Plan was to hit this hard and I did. I had one girl that I knew was in my age group and was in the first wave and in my sights. I didn't want her to beat me and that pretty much kept me pushing this all out. In the end I did beat her :) What would you do differently?: Nada - very happy with this run Post race
Warm down: High tailed it out of the impending rain and of course found my awesome daughters one of whom ran down the finnishing chute on the other side of the cones with me..it was so cute! What limited your ability to perform faster: The bike. I was the 14/373 females and the bike is what put me out of the top ten. I need to get faster but this is my first year and I have had some incredible races...the bike will be my focus in the off season and I plan on rocking it next year! Event comments: Midwest Sports Events puts on some of the biggest races in the area. I was a bit disappointed with the lack of organization at the start. They needed more people handing out packets and doing body marking. But I really do enjoy their races and everything else I thought was top notch. Great to see Amy Jo, Terry and Jim even if it was for only a little bit. Nice to hear Nicole and Kim out there..lots of other support from my PRO team mates who came out to watch and volunteer as well. Last updated: 2010-02-01 12:00 AM

Got up - stretched at home - I pulled a muscle in my shoulder a few weeks ago and when I wake up it is really stiff and sore - had something to eat and drove to the race. It was cold, overcast but per the weather man...who we all know we should not listen to..any chance of rain would be gone by 8:00. Race time was 7:30 and it looked to be dry...
This was chaos...usually I pick up my packet the day before but didn't feel like I needed to this time. WRONG. There were 4 lines to get packets with 1 person working each line and hundereds of people getting their packet! Then all those people basically turned around in this tiny little area to get their chips. Luckily my general number area wasn't very popular. Body marking was another nightmare and I actually think I cut in front of a whole bunch of people but it was hard to tell because it was so crowded. Anyways I was in the 2nd wave of 19 so I felt pretty rushed. Got in line to use the bathroom and the race people came around saying that they were lining the first couple of waves up..huh???? Transitions still hadn't closed. She came back over and told us that she was wrong but to let the people in the first waves go to the front of the line.
My warm up was basically the first Run
