Swim
Comments: This wasn't a great swim. I got a little jostled in the beginning, and then took the turn a wee bit wide, and I think it shows in my time. In such a crowded space like this, I need to not get rattled, it's a mental thing... Time off from last year: +2:00 What would you do differently?: I haven't done a lot of speed work this year, and have been concentrating more on endurance and distance... It's exactly 2 minutes slower than last year...really? I mean, for the last 365 days, I've thought, "That cannot be right....how on earth did I swim a 5:11 400 meter?" So, time wise, I am a little disappointed about the addition of 2:00, but if I am being honest, this is closer to my ability... I.am.slow. Maybe after this season, and I get through "that race in July" I will work with Keith and work on speed... Transition 1
Comments: That timing chip can pick up radio frequency from outer space...I did a pretty good job of getting out of wetsuit, but man... Time off from last year: 0:07 What would you do differently?: I seem to be able to get out of that thing better as the season goes on. Bike
Comments: Really wanted to go balls to the wall on this ride. Think I did that. Fastest.ride.ever. VERY happy with this ride. So, I did something new today...which I practiced on Friday...towards the end of the ride, I undid my bike shoes, and placed my feet on top of my shoes. Think it worked out well. Time off from last year: 1:25 What would you do differently?: I could have not slowed down so much around the turns...but ever since my wipeout last year...I think I just psych myself out. But this was a great ride!! Think all those hard azz bike classes at Well Fit payed off today. Transition 2
Comments: My shoes and skirt were really far back...what did I do there? And my legs were pretty gassed from the bike, and I felt shaky trying to get that skirt on. Think that cost me a second or two. Time off from last year: 0:20 What would you do differently?: Not have my shoes/skirt so far back on my towel...think I might have just had a brain lapse when I set that up this morning. Oopsiedoodle! Run
Comments: NOOOOOOOOOO PAIN!!! Seriously...when was the last time I wrote that in a race report? I can't remember...maybe last year at Racine? But, just like at Racine, I was a tad nauseated...interesting. Also, when I first started the run, my left hip felt really tight...might be from pushing the bike hard. I'm not going to write much here, because I have to enjoy these small victories when I can when I run pain free. Even though DJ Davey isn't technically my coach...he was in my head throughout this entire run...all the things we have discussed about running form and trying to keep my stomach pain at bay I think REALLY helped today...I kept that in my mind as I ran, and felt really strong so I owe a HUGE THANK YOU to DJ...thanks man...nex time I'm up North, lunch is on me!! :) One of the girls on the Multisport Maddness team gave me a very nice compliment when we started the run (as she sailed past me), she said, "You are a really strong biker...you looked awesome out there." I said, "Thank you, that's really nice...and away she went. That was really nice of her to say that...felt all warm and fuzzy inside. :) Time off from last year: 2:18 What would you do differently?: Could have pressed harder? Not sure at this point....need more runs under my belt that are cramp free I guess. Post race
Warm down: Had the pt's stretch me out...legs felt tight. Also ran into FurnanceM3 (Mark) and his brother and we hung out and talked all stuff tri. Had lots of water, oranges, and 2 pieces of pizza....it looked sooo good that I just couldn't resist! What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing...I was faster than last year. Could I have gone faster in parts...perhaps...and hopefully with continued pt work, this may come. But...overall, I think today was GRRRRRRRRRRRRREAAT! (I am saying that in my Tony the Tiger voice). Event comments: I am a big fan of this race. Not only because I get to spend time with my cousin and her family, but Anne, the RD does a very good job. Amazing how much happier I am after a good race like this...when I am not dealing with stomach muscle issues...let's hope that continues for the rest of the summer. The girls in my age group were fierce out there today...geez...my time last year would have put me at 4th...today I was 11th. Oh well...I am very happy with my race today...felt like it all came together. And while running back to transition, someone said I was the best dressed...ha! My skirt outfits seem to be a big crowd pleaser... :) Last updated: 2010-02-01 12:00 AM

Set up transition. Of course, my rack was the most full, and I was there at 10 after 5...geez! So, I was kind of in the middle of the rack.
Had a TBSP full of the natural skippy peanut butter, and some orange G2. Was going to take a gu, but I didn't feel like I needed it. Also, had a couple tums, and a couple advil.
Light stretching.
Did a lap of the swim.
