Swim
Comments: It was a river swim, my first in the James river. Stood on a log with some others and hung out untill 30 seconds to the start. Met Dano right at the swim start. Seeded up front, glad I did. Not much bumping and the water was very calm because it was moving I guess, and the chop due to arms moving was very minor as well. Went at my best pace and it was slow. Got out under 11 minutes but had to run up the ramp and to T1. What would you do differently?: Swim more. I have not done really anything since my last race 2 weeks ago. Transition 1
Comments: Got in quick and put on the bike shoes again, I think I like that better. I end up passing people out on the road putting shoes on so I may stick with it. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: Good ride. Started out kinda easy since I did not ride the course the day before. So I had no idea what it was like. It was pretty flat so I pushed it. Got to the turn around and had 20 guys ahead of me. I was in the second swim wave so I was not sure how many were in my wave and how many were in the wave before. So my mission was to pass as many as possible. I really pushed after that. Ended up passing 7 people, putting me in 13th but not place. SO I still had work to do on the run. I thought for sure my legs would be toast after that. well time to find out. What would you do differently?: bike more. Transition 2
Comments: Got my damn feet stuck trying to put the running shoes on. Heels were sticky. Had like 4 people beat me here. That doesn't happen often. What would you do differently?: Put more powder in the shoes. Run
Comments: Started strong and pass 3 more guys with in the first mile. Now I was up to 10th. Off course this was not overall. Ran hard on all sections and just kept it there. Didnt see many ahead of me. Passed 2 more in the middle section and that was it. I wanted to be under 20 minutes and I waS. What would you do differently?: Run more. Post race
Warm down: Waited for Michele and talked to some volunteers. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training and traveling for sure. Event comments: The course was just awesome, the volunteers were awesome, the post race food was awesome. The prizes and swag were a bit lame. The swag was just a T-shirt. Trinona in MINN we got shirt, backpack, water bottle and a free beer coupon at the local tavern. THe prizes were fleece blankets with I love the tavern on them. If I lived in RIchmond would I do it again, yes. Fun race. Loved the run through the woods and the river swim. Nice to meet Dano from the Richmond Tri club. Last updated: 2010-02-02 12:00 AM

Woke up early with my wife and left the hotel in RIchmond at 5:30. The race was just 13 miles away. We ate a cliff bar and drank a mix 1 shake and got to the race site a bit late it seemed. II like to be early but we were not. Rode our bike to tz an set up.
Ran a bit of the trail with Michele and got our stuff for the swim and hiked the 1/4 mile up river to the start.
