Swim
Comments: I was in the 3rd wave red caps. As usual the start was tough a lot of people swimming on top of you or you swimming on top on them, but that didn¡¦t last to long. I was doing a good job locating each buoy. Once I got to the back stretch I had clean water and I was swimming right on line with each buoy, but yet there was a huge group of red caps to my right. I was feeling good about my swim I was feeling smooth and comfy. Before I knew it I was out of the water. What would you do differently?: Nothing i think i had a good swim. Transition 1
Comments: didn't have a fast T1. First race of the season so i didn't have my routine down yet. Not a good answer but it's the truth What would you do differently?: pratice, pratice Bike
Comments: Jumped on the bike, took a min or so to get my bike computer going. I knew this bike course was hilly so I didn¡¦t want to go out to hard. Just stayed focused and you should have a good ride. Well, I stayed focused but I wouldn¡¦t say I had a great ride. I was 1:30 slower this year than last year. I rode the hills very strong, I would say I pasted most people on the hills, but those people and a bunch more would pass me on the flats and downhills. I normally feel the bike is where I do well. I felt strong, I didn¡¦t feel like I was having a bad day, I just didn¡¦t go out hard enough. What would you do differently?: i need more bike work. I need to get stronger while on the flats. Transition 2
Comments: i was a little better with T2. Run
Comments: Out of T2 I start the hilly run, within about 150 yards of leaving T2 you hit your first of many hills. The run is the hardest part of the race for me, anyone that I may have passed on the swim and bike pass me on the run. I knew in about a mile or so I would get my running legs under me and I would be ok. About 1.5 miles in I found my running legs. I was keeping a good pace for me. For some reason this course only seems to go up. It seemed every time I looked in the distance I would see a hill but yet I don¡¦t think I ran down many hills. ƒº At the 4 mile mark, I check the watch and knew if I could keep this same pace I would PR this course. Mile 5 had a NICE section of up hill, once I got past this portion of the course I knew I was home free and I was looking at my PR! What would you do differently?: i need to do more brick work. In a open 5k, 10K or 1/2 mary i run post a good run for me, but as soon as i add a swim and bike my run suffers. Post race
Warm down: Not much of a warm down. I did meet JohnnyKay and Witteb What limited your ability to perform faster: the bike and the run.. First race of the season a lot of time to improve on both. Event comments: GREAT RACE!!!! Last updated: 2005-11-28 12:00 AM

Woke about 5am and had a PB and bagel and water. Couldn¡¦t finish
the entire bagel by the time I got to the race I was sick of it. I
got body marked, set up my transition, joked around with my rack
mates, about the cold weather, and what the course will be like for
the first time guys. I found the secret bathroom near the lake
which isn¡¦t so secret. Got the wetsuit on, then got ready for the
start of the race. I finished my InfinIT race drink.
Not much of a warm up at all other than a few strokes when i first jummped in.
