Pre-race routine:

Up @ 6AM, had a relatively good nights sleep. Drank a quad espresso(!), a V8, and had a protein shake. Felt great.
Event warmup:

Arrived about an hour early. Stretched out a lot... I like to be early. I was really loose, just felt ready to run. Found Kathleen (kath2163), chatted for a few. I knew from the start I was going to do well for some reason.

Comments:

I went out just right- I wanted to stay below 9:20/mile, and I managed that for the first 7 miles! At about mile 7 I really needed to pee, so I had to stop and wait. Then at mile 10 had a major cramp in my left glute. This never happened before. So, this was not an "A" race for me, so I didn't care if I lost a few minutes. Grabbed a park bench and took at least 2-3 minutes to stretch my glutes out. I'm glad I did! The remaining couple miles were WAY easier. Finished strong, other than the last hill from the path we were on up to the city... that was brutal @ mile 12.5! I had to walk that one. Boo. Sprinted out last 1/4 mile, I finished strong!
What would you do differently?:

Not much, maybe get a little more water in early in the race... I think that's where the glute tightness came from.
Post race
Warm down:

Ate. A lot! Awesome food at this race! Then I went and swam @ CAC for a bit, had a lot of energy after all that food. Then a nap while watching the Masters @ home!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I had a pretty good race- for me. Just continue running and putting in the time.

Event comments:

I really loved this! I will definitely do it again next year. A great day out!
