Run
Comments: I had difficulty going too fast at the beginning because of the number of runners - you had to pick your way through the crowd if you wanted to try and run faster than the crowds pace. Thankfully it thinned around mile 2 and I was able to get up to speed. What would you do differently?: I wouldn't change a thing, other than maybe try to force myself to go to the bathroom before the run. The line was entirely too long and I didn't want to stop on the course, which made for an uncomfortable finish. Post race
Warm down: What warm down? I walked in circles while in line at the GRB for my finishers shirt. About the only warm down I could do... What limited your ability to perform faster: I actually got a glimpse of myself on ABC-13's website - man, I run ugly. I am expending way too much energy up and down and need to focus on running with more economy. Of course it was the end and I was tired, but I need to work on my form more to keep it up when I am tired. Event comments: Truly enjoyed the half marathon. I met my goals and the highly organized volunteers made for a wonderful experience. Sad that I missed the BT party afterwards, but I was helping with HRTC and trying to nurse my sick fiancee. Woke up late, Arose - dressed - convinced my saintly fiancee to come out and stand in the cold when she already had a head cold and drove like a madman to the George R. Brown
Stretched a little, loosened up up - went to Avenida de las Americas to find outher BT'ers and came up empty - no doubt because it was so late (6:40!) Ran into my buddy Chris (The only other St. Arnolds Jersey I saw on the run) and went toward the back of the corral as he headed up front.
