Swim
Comments: Unknown age group rank, but overall placed 44 of 66 in the swim. A minute better than my 500 time in the Beaver Freezer, but a massive dissapointment nonetheless becasue I've spent a lot of time training for the swim over the last couple of months. What would you do differently?: Swimming will be a top triathlon improvement priority for sure. Next triathlon I'm leaving my watch in the car and I'm not going to try to time my swim splits. Also, I need to learn how to do flip turns. Transition 1
Comments: T-1 was pretty good. Fumbled with my number belt a little bit and was a little bit slow getting my shoes on. What would you do differently?: Could have gotten my shoes on a little faster. Next time I'll put powder in my shoes and body glide on my feet while setting up in transition before the race. Bike
Comments: Unknown age group rank. 22 of 66 finishers overall. Thrilled to be in the top 1/3 of the pack on a man killer of a full suspension, 42 lb. Mongoose mountain bike with 26" knobbies. Can't wait to get a new bike!!! What would you do differently?: Ride an appropriate bike. Transition 2
Comments: T-2 was good. One other person in the field had a :19 T-2 time. I'm pleasantly surprised that I was in and out that quick. What would you do differently?: I'll try to shave a second off of that time next year :-) Run
Comments: I'm so excited to finish my run in the top 1/3 of the field. That injury free 8:31 mile pace that would be a Sunday drive for most is a huge improvement for a tortoise like me. :] What would you do differently?: Keep up the run training and shave the minutes off of my time :] Post race
Warm down: A couple yoga poses to keep the legs from locking up :] What limited your ability to perform faster: My swim was pathetic. That wattage on an appropriate race bike would result in a much greater speed. New bike and improved swim are top priorities for the next race. Event comments: These folks did an excellent job and put on a great race. The race volunteers were fabulous. It really did exceed my expectations. Even Mother Nature cooperated and gave us a warm and sunny race day. It was a fantastic experience and I'm looking forward to next years race already! Good job folks!
