Run
Comments: The run was awesome. My knee hurt a little bit, but once it got warmed up, it calmed down. And I loved passing people on my way up the bridge. It's such an awesome feeling. It's all due to the hills I run regularly because my neighborhood is built like a roller coaster. I bettered my time running up the bridge. Weird. Oh, and I got passed by Spongebob Squarepants, his starfish friend, a couple dressed like the Savannah River bridge. I also saw an incredibly skinny Santa, a Christmas tree, two reindeer pulling Santa's sleigh, a cheerleader, the mad hatter from Alice in Wonderland and a lady with two huge teddy bears strapped to her. The winner of the costume contest got a free night's stay at the hotel. What would you do differently?: Practice running 6.2 miles, do some sprint training and run more on flat surfaces. Post race
Warm down: Ran a tiny bit. Stretched. Ate 1/2 banana, two orange slices, soup (yummy. First place I've been that offered soup after the race), a smoothie, drank a bottle of water and 8-ounce lemonade. Skipped the beer. I had to drive back to Heidi's. What limited your ability to perform faster: Practice beforehand. That and the flat ground. Event comments: The race was well done. I enjoyed it. Plus, it helps to have a good location and Savannah is beautiful (except the oddness of looking out one side of the bridge and seeing ports and mills and looking over the other side and seeing downtown.). I was kind of disappointed that there weren't more vendors after. But they were there Friday night at the spaghetti dinner, which I missed. Last updated: 2005-12-01 12:00 AM

Parked. Pinned number on. Used inhalor b/c of the cold.
Warmed up with about a five minute run, then stretched. I walked around and tried not to think how insane I was for doing a 10K when my longest run prior was only 5 miles.
