Run
Comments: Had a fabulous run up until the 15th km. Was under an hour at the half-way mark. Ran up that hill, and then ran a km of the downhill ... and my knee gave out on me. It was not really a surprise; I haven't really gotten more than 15 or 16 km out of it in training. Breathing was awesome, legs were strong, but the knee wasn't willing to go down hills. I had to walk the last 6 km. What would you do differently?: I'm not sure. I'm having trouble finding a good shoe since Adidas changed the Adistar Ride ... Post race
Warm down: Hobbled from the finish line to the Canada Line (1.5 km) and headed back to my friend's apartment for the best-ever shower (another km from Canada Line to his place). Let me just say this: downtown no one thought I was odd walking around in a blue plastic cape. Different story when I got off the train all by myself in Richmond. What limited your ability to perform faster: My knee. Dang. Event comments: Really like this race. Once you've conquered the one and only huge hill, it's downhill all the way to the finish line. I'm only sorry I couldn't take advantage of it ... knees don't like downhills ... Last updated: 2010-02-09 12:00 AM

Got up early, and headed downtown on the Canada Line. Ate part of a Cliff Bar on the way but really couldn't take much. Drank some water, took my salt pill 30 minutes before the start gun.
Light jog to Canada Line (1 km), light jog/fast walk to start line (another km). Some stretching. Ate some GuChomps 10 minutes before start gun.
