Run
Comments: So, first race of the season, and mostly a warm-up to dealing with the mob in a 7000 person race situation. It was a good indicator of what I can expect come race day (but hopefully not this crowded). Fortunately, I know my swimming is quick and so I will probably go for the first or second group on tri-day to insure I don't get caught in the masses. The run itself was pretty fun. I just tried to keep a steady pace and pass when I needed to. The hill killed me and I got owned. I probably should have trained for that :/ I skipped the water station since the run was so short and I had hydrated really well right before. This made me happy as I went right past a bunch of the traffic that was holding me up as they guzzled down their precious H2O. After that, it was just the home stretch and I picked up the pace. Overall, I think the run was easier since I was able to pace off of other people. I'd just jump from one group to another - whoever I could hold play "chase the rabbit" with :) Hopefully I'll get a bit of that during race day. Definitely able to go further, harder, longer while playing the Nascar game with the other competitors. What would you do differently?: Arrive earlier. Get into better position at the start. Post race
Warm down: Did a quick stretch. Not much room to warm-down. What limited your ability to perform faster: The hill in the race really took its toll on me. I was not prepared for hill climbing. Event comments: This is my first race ever, but I thought it was fun. A lot of people, a lot of volunteers, and the after race food/drinks were a plus. Last updated: 2010-02-11 12:00 AM

Woke up early to arrive early. Unfortunately, the Max train had different ideas and I just ended up waiting 30 minutes for a train to arrive. This left most of the pre-race stuff kinda rushed. Pretty much, check in, hop into the bathroom and jump into the lineup. Of course, I ended up in the far back as a result which meant that I really couldn't make my way through the masses very well.
