Swim
Comments: Didn't push hard at all on this swim, which was planned. Went out at a nice easy pace. Drafted much better than I ever have. Was caught up in a group of about 4 guys and just hung with them. Wasn't winded at all when I came out of the water. What would you do differently?: I could have pushed harder, but wasn't really into it. My game plan was way different for this race. Transition 1
Comments: Sprinted by several people who were struggling to get out of the water. My rack was the first one next to the exit. Stood looking at the rack for about 15 seconds wondering where my bike was? Wasn't mentally prepapred for this race at all. Didn't rush to get my helmet and sunglasses on. What would you do differently?: prepare myself to race Bike
Comments: Crashed for the first time ever! Stupid and totally my fault. Although it didn't help that this race is way too packed for the course. By the time you make the second loop all the athletes are on the course. I spent the second lap in a constant drafting position, only because there was simply no place for me to go. There were a group of about 5 riders who kept playing leap frog, we couldn't pull away from one another and we had to stay on the left of the road cause we were constantly passing others. AS far as the crash goes. It happened at the last turn around and there were about 12 riders all making the turn at the same time. Three riders in front of me came to a near complete stop and I ran into the 3rd rider and went down. Fortuntaley, I didn't break anything and I was the only rider to go down. After a few seconds of making sure I was ok, I jumped back on and finished the ride. What would you do differently?: Not crash. Gotta pay better attention and be more careful. Transition 2
Comments: The adrenaline was going pretty good, so I didn't realize that my left ankle was starting to blow up. I didn't really hurry out of transition. Took some time to wash of the road rash on my ankle, hip and elbow. What would you do differently?: Technically it was a decent transition, off the bike, out of my shoes and a decent dismount, into my shoes fairly smoothly. Run
Comments: About halfway through the run I started to feel all the road rash and soreness on my ankle....labored through the last half. What would you do differently?: Decent run all things considered Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Crashing on the bike and overall mental status Event comments: They need to change the bike course or limit the participants. There are simply too many riders out on the course during the bike. Drafting is nearly unavoidable. Last updated: 2010-02-11 12:00 AM

Turbulent week heading into the race. Wasn't even sure if we were doing this race until the night before. Woke up around 4:00 to drive down. Bagel, peanut butter/honey, 5 hour enegery, water.
Jogged about 5 minutes on the beach and then swam maybe 150 yards. A little bit of stretching before the start
