Pre-race routine:

Woke up on time (that never happens) and drove downtown. Couldn't find parking anywhere...at all. Drove around for about 25 min before finding a spot about a mile away from the start.
Event warmup:

Jogged from parking lot to porta-jon. Then from porta-jon to start line.

Comments:

Started out w/ the 1:40 pace group as my goal for this race was to break 1:42. Felt really good about mile 4 so I picked up the pace a bit. Hit the halfway point just a little over 45min - way too fast. Ran really well till about mile 9 and then started fading. Had a very strong last mile to preserve my PR.
What would you do differently?:

Probably should have stayed with the pace group for another 3-4 miles and then re-evaluated. I think I left too soon.
Post race
Warm down:

Lots of walking/stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

This was as fast as I could be on this particular day. Left it all out there- no regrets.

Event comments:

PR by 4:45- one of the best efforts I have ever had in a race. I really had low expectations going into this race with limited run training due to injury, but I think the rest going in may have been helpful. Also I drank a bit too much partying Friday night and was still a little under the weather this morning- felt fine once I got going though.

This was the first big race I have been in, and it was AWESOME. Quite the spectacle seeing 17k people lined up to race. Really a great atmosphere and will definitely be back next year.

One other note: I still SUCK at drinking on the run.
