![]() Swim
Comments: About 1/2 way through I ditched the flip turns. I expend a lot of energy and breath doing them still. Noticed my strap on my watch flapping in front of me about 2/3 of the way and then one of my straps came off my head for my goggles 3/4 of the way. Didn't stop for either. Swallowed a bit of water at one point but kept going. What would you do differently?: Nothing really---very comfortable in the pool. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: had 10 minutes to transition to pool to bike, needed to be fully dry. ![]() Bike
Comments: I thought I was going to die--we did this part on spin bikes. No problems with the actual biking--probably could have gone harder but after 5 minutes I could not feel my butt! 30 minutes felt like an eternity. What would you do differently?: Need to get off the recumbant bike at the gym. The saddle on the upright bikes at the Y are definitely bigger than the spin bikes but at least will be closer to what I will be doing during the outdoor tris. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Just walked over to the treadmills. ![]() Run
Comments: Yeah so this one got off to a slow start because the emergency thingie on my treadmill was not in the right place so the thing wouldn't start. Once I got started I got up to a decent walking pace pretty quickly...capped out around 3.7 mph. What would you do differently?: Aside from checking my treadmill before the start, probably nothing at this point. ![]() Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Not sure how hard I should go in the swim--though I felt I gave all I had there. The pain in my butt on the bike...could have definitely spun farther if I wasn't focused on that so much. On the treadmill, had the urge to run but held myself back knowing I couldn't sustain it for too long. Event comments: great facility, very well run will definitely sign up for more of these to Last updated: 2010-02-21 12:00 AM
