Comments: Went out too fast. Could not settle into a good running rhythm and faded early. Started feeling better around 4 KM mark but too little too late. Long way from reaching sub 20 min times. Some guy was breathing so hard behind me for the last kilometer that I thought he was going to keel over. Got kind of annoying as it really threw me off. Who knows maybe my breathing throws people off... What would you do differently?: Train. Also have to spend more time mentally preparing for races. Learning as I go. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Just kept walking after the race and let my HR settle down a bit. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training and mental preparation as well as physical fatigue. Event comments: Lots of food and drinks made available after the race. Surprised at how fast the results were posted online. This race is getting big and probably could use timing chips instead of relying on gun time. Kinda cool to see Simon Whitfield out there as well. Overall a very well organized race. Woke up after a restless sleep (went to bed after 1:30 am). Had a shower to try and clear my head then across the street from the hotel to the race start. Drank a cup of Gatorade.
Cold outside so stayed inside community center as long as I could. Did a bit of stretching as my back was stiff and sore. To the start line, waited a few minutes then the horn went off and the race was on.
