Bike
Comments: Fun ride but bonked at 100k mark. Got into a couple of good pacelines and had lots of fun up to the point where I ran out of steam. Came across a fellow biker who crashed within the first half hour of the ride and didn't look good. Reports say that his front wheel was caught in a drainage grate! Really hope he makes a full recovery. Got a little warm as the ride progressed and stopped for 5 minutes to remove my vest and arm warmers. Also took a few pain killers and Ibuprofen for some back pain I was having. Made a second stop at a food station to fill my water bottle. Last 20 k were hard as I had hit the wall. Need to train more for longer distances and learn to hydrate and eat better. What would you do differently?: See above. Post race
Warm down: No warm down. Was a little chilly in Whistler upon arrival so just got to truck and came back to Vancouver. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training, hydration and food intake made for a tough go in the final stages. Event comments: This was a fun event but also challenging. Disappointed about my performance in the last few kilometers but I'll be back next year to try for a time closer to four hours. Last updated: 2010-02-24 12:00 AM
