Swim
Comments: Very shallow water, like the last time I did this race in 08. So the first 200 out, at least 10 people in my wave were walking. Plus my wave was the last one. I gained a lot of ground after we got in the deeper water, passed tons of people. What would you do differently?: Um, not do a shallow race. Or learn how to deal with it. Idk. Transition 1
Comments: I need to work on this T1, getting socks on and other stuff adds on too much time. Some people are a whole minute faster! What would you do differently?: Practice or train without socks? Idk Bike
Comments: Kept it crankin in the big gear because of the flats. Of course my cadence was lower than usual, but I averaged 23 mph. Can't complain. Drank way too much Perpetuem, which hurt me later. What would you do differently?: Not drink as much. Oh and train in the big gear more! Transition 2
Comments: I rushed the shit out of this one! Still slower than some people, but whatever! What would you do differently?: Train on getting off the bike better Run
Comments: Drank too much on the bike, so my stomach was tight. At least it forced me to make my abs look good! I was slow for the first mile or so, then got progressively faster until after I finished. Drank water only at the aid stations, remembering last triathlon with gatorade, so no puking! What would you do differently?: Do more hard bike/hard run brick sets to prepare my body. Get my drinking ratio correct. Post race
Warm down: Sipped some drink they gave me, nibbled food. Stretched a little. What limited your ability to perform faster: Shallow water on the swim, sucking at transition areas, not enough big gear cycling practice Event comments: Other than the swim, I think the course is great! Woke up at 0400, ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, then shaved my legs/chest one last time. Also drank a Gatorade.
Got my family up to come with me.
Just stretching! I dont like warmups.
