Age Group Rank = 69/212
Pre-race routine:

Woke up around 0430 cup of coffee and cereal for breakfast
Event warmup:

Swam for about 15 minutes then stretched about 20 minutes prior to my wave.
Swim
  • 26m 59s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 48s / 100 meters
Comments:

My Swim was much better than at the Sprint with my new wet suite. Although I have not been able to train in it and it showed because my arms had to work harder than normal. I know I'm faster than 26.59 for 1500 meters, but without being able to train in open water I won’t be able to get my arms used to the extra effort the neoprene puts on my arms. Over all I’m still happy.
What would you do differently?:

I'm going to do more pull work outs to help with the wetsuit fatigue of the arms, but it will not solve the issue. I need to find a lake I can swim in!!!
Transition 1
  • 01m 26s
Comments:

Pretty happy but i need to get faster.
What would you do differently?:

Try to go faster
Bike
  • 1h 20m 44s
  • 26.1 miles
  • 19.40 mile/hr
Comments:

Old Stage Road is a ball buster. It was cool to see all the people in as much pain as I was. I just could not get off and walk, but I really wanted to join them. Someone called it the walk of shame I would call it “The walk of I’m not giving up.” I like seeing people who have the will to continue and not just quit. Each ride I feel I get better. This one was good I just need to figure out how to get faster?
What would you do differently?:

Nothing I just need to get stronger on the bike.
Transition 2
  • 02m 24s
Comments:

I have to figure out how to come into transition and not have to pee!! It really messes with my T time, although I really don't care but it is frustrating.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure just yet.
Run
  • 52m 6s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 23s  min/mile
Comments:

I’m overall very happy with my pace. I started out slow and let the eager beavers pass me. Those who were really not runners and I passed again as I slowly increased my speed. At mile 3 is when I really started feeling good and kicked it up a notch. I defiantly prefer the start out slow method then kick it in. I really liked the hills because my pace does not change it was neat seeing people prepping to pass me on the flats just before a hill then to watch them drop back and for the most part I would not see them again. Just a little victory for a slower runner.
Even though I placed 543 in the run I felt much stronger this time and it’s only a matter of training and time before I’m back to sub 8s again.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe start a little faster but not much.
Post race
Warm down:

Not much just walked around and did some stretching. I went and got some food and only got pizza because my daughter wanted a slice. I don't get how after a TRI anyone would want pizza. All that grease makes me want to up chuck just looking at it. My stomach during the race felt fine but after words I felt if I did not watch what I ate there was a chance of getting sick. I need to figure out why.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

New to the sport and just need to train. The speed will come.

Event comments:

I think it's a good race and the volunteers are great. Being this is only my third TRI I still don't have too much to go on just yet. But this race was top notch from what I have seen and expect.
