Run
Comments: Marcy and I were pacing each other attempting to finish in 02:27:17...The date of her anniversary (02:27) and years of marriage (17). Within the first quarter mile I had to ditch the brand new fuel belt I just bought. Best wishes to whoever found it, you got a $50.00 present from me. Shed the sweatshirt a little after mile 1, and the glove around 4. Between 3 and 4 I was having a hard time and twice told Marcy to go on, but she wouldn't. Passed a couple of Luke's Locker coaches from my past about 5, one was doing a half today and flying out for another one tomorrow. The other was doing the Ultra. Miles 5,6 and 7 were better and I began to find a good rythm. Marcy began to fall back some and I stayed with her until 8 when she wanted me to go on. Miles 8 to 12 were awesome. Once I hit the hill on Lancaster going up to Throckmorton I took my ONLY extra walk break. Marcy and I had actually jogged two instead of walking. At 12 1/2 I was hurting some but I know it was almost over and that I would have a MASSIVE PR. Crossing the finish line in 2:27:49 gave me a HM PR of 9:29 and a course PR of 14:26. What would you do differently?: Not take that extra walk break. Could have probably been around 2:25. Post race
Warm down: Nothing really. Walked around getting food bag, finishers shirt and checked bag. Waited for Steve to finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not much. Event comments: Race was not on time due to timing malfunctions. Last updated: 2010-02-27 12:00 AM

Woke up at 0500 and did traditional race morning routines that go along with being nervous. Prepped a bagel and peanut butter. Steve, Marcy and Beth came by at 0550 to pick me up. Had my bagel on the way out. Arrived in plenty of time and park within three blocks of the start/finish lines.
None what so ever. Went into this one cold.
