Run
Comments: Very interesting experience. I surprised myself on the uphill, averaging about 9:30/mi pace on 6% incline and followed it up with 6:30/mi on the 1 mi downhill. Leg 2 was awesome since it was in the pitch dark, nice and cool, and just slight rolling hills- I managed to avg about 8:25/mi on the 5.5 mi I ran. Leg 3 was intense! The downhill was harder and steeper than anticipated and my feet were on fire about 2 mi. in; blisters were forming on the bottoms of my feet. It was also very technical- a good portion of it was on a single track trail, and I had to be careful not to trip. To make matters worse, this was extended almost 1.5 mi more than it was stated because of a detour. I felt okay, but my feet didn't appreciate it. What would you do differently?: Not a lot- I think I did well, and found a good balance of fun and challenge. In the future I may want to push myself even harder to make certain times/paces. You've got the pressure of the team waiting for you, which makes it conducive to good challenge. Post race
Warm down: Stretch, sleep in van on the way back home What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of sleep/rest and blisters on feet-- I'll admit that it was kind of strange running at 3am. Not used to that... Event comments: Awesome experience. I'll totally do this again! Last updated: 2010-03-01 12:00 AM
