Comments: A tough ride this year. With the wind and lack of training leading up to the ride, I wasn't sure what to expect. I still managed to hold over 20 for the whole ride, and did several miles of individual TT style riding of 22+ mph speed. Helped a guy get back with his team. At times I was holding 25+ mph as I was pulling. I found a team holding about 21-22 avg and hung with them for the majority of the ride. It felt good - I was reminded of how great the drafting is :) Did the ride sunday too. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Stretching and enjoying being done. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training, wind. Event comments: Love this ride. It's awesome. Such a great excuse to get out on the bike every year, and it's for a good cause. It is kind of a nuisance to have to raise $250/person to do it, but it's been worth it every year! Throw the bikes in the truck and go. My wife and I both did this together-- wife planning on 40 mi Saturday and 40 mi Sunday. I'm planning on 100 mi on Saturday and 40 mi Sunday.
Wake up, eat breakfast, ride to start line from hotel to warm up. Spend first 10 mi warming up legs (this isn't a race!)
