Comments:

I lined up about 10 feet in front of the guy holding the 8 minute miles marker. Doing some jumping up and down to keep my HR up. The guy in front of me told me he could see my heart rate going up and down on his garmin (he wasn't wearing the heart strap).

After the gun, I was passed by hundreds of people in the first half mile, despite going out at a sub-8 pace. Around the 1 mile park people stopped passing me and I started passing people. People go out way too fast on the starts. I was a little worried about holding the pace through the whole race, since I don't train in that HR zone.

I kind just held on for most of the course, then towards end I realized I could probably go faster and I went on the hunt passing tons of people, turning in a 7:14 4th mile split, which is the fastest mile I've ever ran.

Sprinted the finish.

See training log for HR data and lap splits.

Wore sweat pants, tech long sleeve, and a festive cotton T on top. Was a little warm later in the race.

What would you do differently?:

Pace more evenly, go faster on mile 2 & 3
Post race
Warm down:

Walk to food.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Pacing

Event comments:
