Swim
Comments: This was horrific. I spent the entire off season trying to learn out to breathe correctly and had water from the boat hit me in the face. I went out way to fast and frankly it freaked me out. I panicked and my swim was awful. I'm not sure I would have even really had the heart to really give it a go if Rich hadn't run by and told me to kick it in the rear. What would you do differently?: I need to spend at least once a week in the lake. Transition 1
Comments: Significantly better than last time. Bike
Comments: I could have done much better than this. However, I panicked when someone was a little too close and I crashed around mile 12. I laid out my brand new, to me, bike and was freaking out about it. I'm sorry for everyone who had to listen to me curse as I calmed down. I thought I wrecked my bike for sure. Then I got up and finished. Transition 2
Comments: Faster than last year as well. Run
Comments: This seemed a tad short this year per my garmin. However even given .03 miles short it was still my fastest 5k ever I think. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Injury. Mental toughness Event comments: The race was ok. My wife had spinal surgery the next day. That combined with how I felt after the race and that is why it has taken me two weeks to get a sub par report up. I honestly want to forget this one. I felt that the month off just before the race hurt me and told my brother pre race that I'd be ok with 1:48 as it would beat my last years time. My goal was much faster but I guess with all the badness that went down I'll be happy with at 6 minute increase. Last updated: 2010-03-02 12:00 AM
