Pre-race routine:

Up at 6:12. Grab stuff I prepared last night. Decide I want a different shirt. Spend ten minutes looking for said shirt to no avail.

Have difficulty making Number 2. This is never good.

Otherwise routine routine.

Drive 90 minutes to race with a friend.

Check in with very little time to spare.

Comments:

My training was down yet I tried to run like I had trained well.

This made for a difficult race - go figure?
What would you do differently?:

Either A: train or B: use race day a s a training event if I am not prepared.

As it was I could have stayed behind the person I knew was running the time (first female finisher - ran 1:28:07) I was aiming for (I wanted 1:28:10 or better). Yet still I decided to pass and run the next 2 miles too fast.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training.

Event comments:

The price for this race was good - $35 online with no added fee.
The course is nice.

The drive is a bit further than I'd like.

There were some water stop issues.

The post race activities were lame.

Bathrooms were scarce.

6:11 first mile - mostly down hill 6:35 mile 2 6:38 mile 3 these two miles felt too easy I picked it up for the 4th mile but at 5 my lack of fitness started to slow me down By mile 9 I was down to 6:43 pace - this is what I needed to PR - and the going was getting REALLY hard. I change my goal to sub 1:30 by MIle 10 I changed my goal to FINISH As I hit the 13 mile marker I saw I could maage to stay under 1:32 if I pushed it. I was happy to have that. Half way 43:15 (6:24 pace
Course: first mile downhill city streets - flat paved bike path after that
