Swim
Comments: Nice and easy strokes, got passed once and passed a few. Overall I felt fine, just tough to get use to a pool swim. The 1 guy who passed me, I picked up my pace and rode off his feet for a while. I could feel the difference on drafting. I said I would do 7:45, I did 7:40. What would you do differently?: Maybe practice going down the lane, touching, going under and then pushing off. Transition 1
Comments: T1 stunk. Who knows. I didn't rush, I didn't relax. I guess either more T1 practice or I just need to pick up my pace a little. It was good for training and practicing What would you do differently?: Wondering if I should practice no socks. Bike
Comments: I did feel good. Hit the flats and downhill in aero, stood and pushed on the corners, pressed up the hills. HR stayed in the low 160s and I tried to get it down to 150-155 before my run. Depending on how long the course actually was, over 20 mph is a nice internal goal I have always set for my races. What would you do differently?: Not much. Don't really know when to drink. When I am cruising at 24 down a slight hill with a cadence of 110 or when I am spinning up a hill with a cadence of 85-90. Downhill seems like it makes more sense, but I am already slowing down uphill, what difference does a break and a few sips mean. Transition 2
Comments: Decent. Same as T1. This race was all about practice, and this was good Transition practice. What would you do differently?: Maybe sockless, maybe baby powder in the running shoes. Maybe just pick up my pace a little. Run
Comments: If I saw the finish sooner, might have tried to pick it up a little sooner. I had no clue. I think I was blind to any signs that said how far was left. Happy with pace if the course length is right. I hope this means I am done being a 9+ minute miler. What would you do differently?: Just need to run more and do more interval work Post race
Warm down: none What limited your ability to perform faster: nothing Event comments: Fun race. Was nice and short. Wanted the 14.06 sticker, which they didn't have. Anyways, it was a ton of fun and great to see so many 1st timers out there. It was nice to practice Transitions and work on some speed drills on the bike and run. Just wish I was faster. Doesn't matter how long the race is, I still got my first medal. They said and gave me 2nd in the AG, but I think I was 3rd. Last updated: 2010-03-03 12:00 AM

Woke up, showered dressed. Probably went to this race with the least amount of gear. 1 water bottle, 1 gel which I never ate.
None, unless standing in line to get body marked counts.
