Swim
Comments: ran from transition area to pool, on walk put on bathing cap. at pool edge, dipped goggles into water and put them on - - swam strong and steady - one eye out of water - breathing was EXCELLENT! Held my position - regardless of whether someone was trying to swim over me - - kept going - did not give up my position. Stopped momentarily at edge, manuevered around people easily - strong last lap. What would you do differently?: probably swim harder for more of the distance - - was pacing myself - and could have pushed harder the last lap or two. Transition 1
Comments: This tri ws in reverse, so T1 was actually from Run to Bike - - -which was excellent. RAN to transition area, removed shoes (had lace locks) slipped on bike shoes and traded ear warmer for bike helmet and sunglasses. RAN to mount area. On bike in seconds and took off - bike was in proper gear. wooo hooo!! What would you do differently?: nothing..... Bike
Comments: bike was good - nice to have road bike this year - - passed many people - fast, controlled u-turns, high cadence, comfortable clothing, shoe strap rubbing pedal, had to adjust -no biggy - What would you do differently?: ride harder and faster - need to figure out the gearing and power - to determine what exactly I can do to get more speed - -kept cadence fairly constant - but noticed sometimes that higher gears -while pushing hard, gave me more speed - but could not sustain for long and downshifted to more comfortable pace - -should I maintain constant pace or vary it? Transition 2
Comments: T2 was actually bike to swim - -but well done! Dismount was great, RAN to rack, although wearing a lot of clothes, disrobing seemed fast. I had put my earplugs in before the race, so didn't have to bother with them on the run - so RAN to pool and on the walk inside the building, put on swim cap and goggles What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: never sure how much to push - - started in front and kept it steady, at beginning felt somewhat out of breathe, but found my pace and kept it. Towards the end, knew I had plenty left, so picked up leg turnover last .25 mile - - pasted several folks, only one woman I wanted to pass and could not - - What would you do differently?: really work on run and get my turnover faster - get to my pace quickly and know when to burn it and how much I can use so I still have energy to run to the bike rack. Post race
Warm down: get towel and dry off!!!! get water!!!! pick up finisher t-shirt!! great tri! still had plenty of energy!!! whew!!! What limited your ability to perform faster: just not sure of my limits? Event comments: A very fun race - lots of enthusiasm, postive vibes, cheering - loved the cow bells!!! Encouragement at swim is very good. Last updated: 2010-03-03 12:00 AM
