Swim
  • 07m 6s
  • 450 yards
  • 01m 35s / 100 yards
Comments:

Hard start right into the wind and waves. sucked a lot of water. once I got my rhythm breathing on the leeward side every stroke. went wide around the last bouy to stay out of the mob put me on a straight course to the finish and able to surf a little.
What would you do differently?:

I would have started to the right with a little more confidence. I made the most of the current on the finish but was pushed off at the start.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

don't know if the sox were needed the powder helped a little. Not having to change made things easier
What would you do differently?:

train without sox to see how much it helps
Bike
  • 36m 54s
  • 10 miles
  • 16.26 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

train for real. the ride was my worst. funny how I thought it would be half way decent. 7 1/2 min between me and first. I think I can improve on that for the fall. I like the bike, but getting used to the handling and my pacing would have helped.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

didn't know what to do
What would you do differently?:

practice more on the bike. practice the transitions
Run
  • 26m 42s
  • 3.5 miles
  • 07m 38s  min/mile
Comments:

Ran like stone out of the gate, felt like crap, drank too much water in T2. took the first mile to mile and a half to get in the groove. last 1.5 is almost all down hill. able to turn it on to the finish. that guy at the finish who called me out by # made a huge difference in getting me to push the last couple hundred yards. glad i didn't know about the over sand finish that was brutal.
What would you do differently?:

train more.
Post race
Warm down:

walk it off. had more at the end but ran out of race.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of training and being a newbee. I didn't kn ow how to pace myself fron=m the bike to the run. more bricks. had more in me at the swim but had no idea how that would effect the rest of the trip.

Event comments:

great effort by the entire crew, good course, good transition, made a great first experience. I would recommend this race to anyone newbie or elite. nice day.
