Pre-race routine:

Got up and ate a light breakfast with the family. Arrived at the race an hour before start. Anna and the kids went along to watch me run my first Half Mary. I drank about half a bottle of water and some coffee on the drive. I changed in the locker rooms at the school.
Event warmup:

Since it was quite chilly outside, I did some stretching inside. I didn't do any running to warm up, but did jog in a place a little waiting for the start.

Comments:

My pace started too fast. I didn't really have a race plan. I hoped to be able to keep my pace under 9 min/mile, but didn't know if I could. I made a mistake of trying to build up slack in the time early by running faster. I still met my goal, but I was definitely hurting later in the run.
I had 2 gels during the run with a 3rd on standby if needed. First one around 6 miles and second around 10. Overall a good plan.
What would you do differently?:

Slow down during the first 2 miles. Eat a banana before the race.
Post race
Warm down:

I walked around for a little while, ate a banana and drank water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Experience.

Event comments:

This was my first race, so my comparisons are against no other races.

Performance: Average
Avg HR was 173. This was definitely higher than normal for me, even though my pace was only slightly faster. I think adrenalin had something to do with the higher HR.
Course: Some hills, but not as bad as I was expecting based on other's comments in advance.
