Swim
Comments: Did not start too hard in hopes of not spiking HR. It worked great once I settled into a good pace I increased speed a little drafting when I could. Passing lots of people. Once I passed the last buoy a couple people from the next wave caught me. Swam till hands touched the boat ramp and exited. Cap and goggles off, smile for pics(kidding)unzipped and stripped on way to bike. What would you do differently?: This was a great swim for me. Transition 1
Comments: A great transition for me, smooth and fast. What would you do differently?: Still need to practice getting feet on shoes once bike is mounted. This does not cost me much me too much time but it sure looks uncool with shoes flopping around. Feet went into shoes well. Bike
Comments: Got up to speed well and kept a good pace passing lots of people from previous waves. Got "chicked" at about mile 3-4 She was bad a$$. What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 2
Comments: Decided to wear socks, not ready for sockless run yet. putting on socks costs me about 20-25 seconds. What would you do differently?: I will continue to build feet so I can do sprints and oly races sockless. Run
Comments: Exited T2 with a younger guy and we paced for just over 1 mile then he moved on. I took water at mile 2 and 3. Passed a bunch of runners and got passed by about 5 including some freak of nature in the next age group. I think I heard a sonic boom as he passed. Passed two more guys and one more coming up the chute. What would you do differently?: This was a very good run for me. I will continue to increase speed training and avg. 6:45 mi. on a course like this. Post race
Warm down: Walked around met up with my wife, love of my life and #1 fan. Thank you for always supporting me. You are the best. Dad, Joyce and Rosie were there to support me as well, I never saw you during the race but I did hear you. Thanks for your support. Tried to eat, the food was blahh but we had a picknick to go to with good eats. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing. I felt strong the whole race and left nothing on the course. This was my 7Th race. I am a 43 year old rookie in my 2nd year of training and racing. With continued training and racing I will soon crack the top 10 in my AG. Event comments: Great venue, Great swag. If you don't get there early parking gets tough and the transition area gets full. I liked the bike entrance better than the Reservoir Tri set up. I only stayed around long enough to eat a little and get results. The band and free beer was a nice touch Last updated: 2010-03-13 12:00 AM

got up at 3:30, bagel, coffee, shower, loaded up gear and left around 4:30. Just over 1 hour travel time to event. The road was lined with cars and the lot was almost full. Usually I'm very early to these events. This made me a bit nervous. but I got a good spot at the rack, picked up race packet, swag, and chip. set up transition.
jogged up the road, once i felt loose I did a few speed bursts. went back to transition area put on wetsuit swam for about 5-6 min get HR up and toed the line.
