Pre-race routine:

Had trouble sleeping, so grabbed a bagel & PB at 3:30 & tried to sleep some more. Ate again at 5:00 then headed to the venue.

swam 2-300 meters before the start, mostly to check that my goggles were fitting properly.

Paced it about how I thought I should. Kept myself within my limits and didn't try to chase anyone down. The 2 hills were tough. The first time up was OK, the second time pretty much wiped me out for the last 7-8 miles of the bike leg.

What would you do differently?:

grab gatorade at the aid stations instead of water & maybe fewer gel pouches.

Warm down:

walked around a bit, met with my adoring fans/family. grabbed some grub.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not much. 1 yr into the sport, I don't think I could have asked for a better outcome.

Event comments:

I enjoyed the venue and the weather was great. The announcer reminded me of the announcer for the Tour de France & I liked that.
