Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4:15, took a quick shower and shaved and finished packing the car. Was out the door by 5am. My neighbor was just getting in. :) Ate a bagel and drank a Gatorade on the way.
Event warmup:

Nothing
Swim
  • 06m 45s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 32s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was a good swim for me. Got off to a good start. Was a little crowded to start, but it opened up after turning around the first buoy. Lost the group in front, but was ahead of the group behind. Nothing really exciting here.
Transition 1
  • 01m 6s
Comments:

They changed slightly the enterance to T1 to make it fair for everyone. Make this transition longer then the ones in the past. Decided to put my shoes on in T1 and run out with the bike since the transition is so short anyways.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 40m 42s
  • 15 miles
  • 22.11 mile/hr
Comments:

Had a little head wind on the way out but nothing bad. I was averaging a pretty good pace going out, pushing it hard. Hit the turn around and had a little tailwind which made it nice. Was trying to hold 23mph for the entire time back in.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Best split ever on this course.
Transition 2
  • 00m 57s
Comments:

Another good T2 for me at this race.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 21m 15s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

I went out and was feeling really good. The weather was still pretty cool so I knew I could push it. Did a 7:10 mile for the 1st mile. Then hit the turn around and had a guy about 10 ft in front of me. He wasn't in my AG, but I didn't want to let him get away. Did the 2nd mile in 7:10. Decided at that point I needed to start slowly pulling him in and see what he had. He looked like a runner and I thought I may be in trouble with a sprint finish. Got down to the last 1/4 mile and we were shoulder to shoulder. I dropped the hammer and he couldn't follow. :) Did mile 3 in 6:55.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Lots of drinkings, lots of chatting

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing. Best finish here ever.

Event comments:

This is one of my favorite races and series.
