Swim
Comments: Even though I was faster than last year, I had trouble catching my rhythm and maintaining my breathing. What would you do differently?: More OW training. I will go without the wetsuit at Wasaga Beach to see if that makes a difference (maybe since it is not meant for swimming, it is more of a hinderance than help). Transition 1
Comments: Good exit from the water and run to transition area. Wetsuit came off fine. The buckle of my helment came off the strap when I clipped it on. I took me a good 45 seconds to 1 min to put it back together. Shoes already clipped in. Ran barefoot with bike and mounted the bike well. What would you do differently?: I need a new helment. The chin strap has always been short, the helmet is 4-5 years old and most improtantly it does not match my bike. Bike
Comments: Huge improvement on my bike performance. Probably mainly attributed to my new P1 but I'll take some credit on increased training for a little of the improvement. This was my first time biking in the rain. I was very cautious on the corners but still seemed to be a little more agressive than other racers. I felt that I could have pushed the pace a little harder but I wanted to have some legs left for the run. I wanted to be under 1 hour but given the conditions (many corners and rain) I am happy with the results. What would you do differently?: More bike training obviously. Might have pushed the pace a little more. I also need to adjust my computer (which wasn't working for some of the race) so that I can see the screen better. Transition 2
Comments: Getting out of shoes while riding was fine. The end of the course is downhill approaching the dismount line so there was really no peddling with feet on shoes. Combine the hill and wet surface, I and many riders were very careful at this point. Running with bike was fine. Typical feeling running off the bike. Had a little trouble finding my rack. Someone racked their bike right over my shes (in plastic bag). I guess that's par for the course and I should have gotten to T2 faster. Maybe this was a 10 second delay. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Maybe faster run with bike. Run
Comments: Run was good. Beat my last year time by 1 minute but still would have liked a slightly faster pace. Running in the rain was fun. I should do it more often. Took a small dring of water at about 5km mark. Got passed late by 2 AGers. Ran sockless with no problems during race. After I noticed a small abrassion on my upper right heal. What would you do differently?: Not much. More training to increase speed. Maybe more sockless running to toughen up my feet. Maybe push a faster pace. Post race
Warm down: Walking. Bottle of water. What limited your ability to perform faster: Swim training and training in general. Need a new helmet. Event comments: Post race only average because standing around in the rain is not overly fun. I really like this race because of the challenging bike course and the distance. I will do it again next year for sure! Last updated: 2010-03-20 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5:30. Bowl of Frosted Flakes and water for breakfast. Large coffee for the car ride to Orillia. Arrived later then I wanted.
No warm up. Once I when through the registration procedures and set up my transition area the race was starting.
