Run
Comments: Started out the gate very easy, going into the race hoping for a negative split in the last half. I picked up the pace at mile 7. At mile 8 after running a 7:10 split I became severely nauseated and almost lost my breakfast entirely. I significantly dropped my pace and then gradually brought it back up to 7:30 over the next couple miles. I spent the whole last half of the run fighting against my stomach. At the last steep incline right at the end I knew I could beat the girl in front of me so I let it fly, causing me to vomit 20 feet from the finish line, and a couple more times after I got over the mats. I think I beat her, though. :) What would you do differently?: Not start re-habbing the hurt knee 3 weeks before the race. I had a significant deferment from the training program due to bad MCL pain. The pain is gone now, but I wasn't running and still eating tons of calories. The diet was very bad the last couple of days since I just spit-roast a pig 2 days prior and have been eating leftovers since. This race was a definite failure on the diet and rehab fronts, NOT on building the physical strength front. Post race
Warm down: tried to clean myself off. Walked around a little bit but didn't really need to do anything special. What limited your ability to perform faster: Eating smarter and avoiding injuries. Event comments: Just wish I had planned life a little better in the month coming up to the race. Last updated: 2010-03-21 12:00 AM

Finished breakfast about 1.5 hours before the race. Breakfast was more or less the same as the marathon:
3 egg whites, 1 yolk
banana
2 pieces of whole wheat toast + jam + butter
coffee
No warmup, just sort of walked around and made sure my legs felt loose.
