Swim
Comments: VERY nervous at start. Did not pace myself properly and was breathless by the first bouy. Sucked in some waverunner fumes. Gagged. Tread water. Figured out why you're supposed to warm up. Got back on track and was OK rest of the swim. What would you do differently?: Pace myself properly and try to relax. This IS supposed to be fun, isn't it? Transition 1
Comments: Rinsed off salt water. Took my time as this was my first race and I was unsure what I was doing and concerned about forgetting something important - like my bike. What would you do differently?: Practice transitions Bike
Comments: Riding my old hybrid decked out for cruising. Very heavy but got the job done. Probably undertrained for any bike. What would you do differently?: Get a proper bike and train on it. Transition 2
Comments: Still not sure what I was doing and took my time and did not forget anything important - like my race number. What would you do differently?: Practice transitions Run
Comments: The run wasn't pretty and it wasn't fast. But I got it done with some walking. Never ran in my adult life until a few weeks ago so I am happy to have just gotten through it. The heat was challenging. What would you do differently?: Learn to run (better). Train properly. Post race
Warm down: I walked (strutted?) around, cooled off under a hose and gloated to my husband and friends about my completion of this feat of mammoth, almost incomprehensible proportions. That finisher's medal sure felt good around my neck (or actually stuffed down my suit). What limited your ability to perform faster: Where do I start?? Lack of Training? Innate ability?? Experience? Event comments: I'm hooked. When's the next race? Last updated: 2010-03-21 12:00 AM

Up at 4 to go to my first race! Ate this and that and probably the wrong stuff. Didn't sleep much due to nerves. Got to the venue as it opened to get end spot on the rack.
Warm up? Are we supposed to warm up? And waste that precious energy?
