Swim
Comments: It took a few minutes before I really got the swim under control. Whatever...my swim was faster than last year. What would you do differently?: Warm up and swim more. I lost 1 1/2 minutes to the race winner here. I would like to swim this in 10:30 next year. Transition 1
Comments: I had a crappy transition spot, but made the best of it. I left my shoes on my bike and it worked great. Suit off, helmet on and away I went. What would you do differently?: Get a good transition spot :) Bike
Comments: So, the bike was the one leg that I feel I really could have done better. My problem is that I get content and stop pushing. I increased my speed by 2 MPH over last year and I am happy about that, but I could have done better. I need to get more long rides in. I was toast at the end of the ride. I passed tons of people going up the hills. I love doing that. What would you do differently?: I need to get more long rides in. I guess I should get better at drinking on the bike. It doesn't really matter for a race this short, but when I move up to longer distances, it will be critical. I'd like to get this ride down to 54 or 55 minutes for next year. Transition 2
Comments: Great transition. I had no hangups. My Green Silence worked great with lace locks. What would you do differently?: Nada. Run
Comments: I am so happy with my run. 5th fastest overall. With increased bike fitness I know I can run faster. I was so, so happy with this. I improved by over 5 minutes from last year. What would you do differently?: As my biking gets better, my run will get stronger as well. I think I can run 31:30 or 32 next year. Post race
Warm down: Sat down with my kids and cheered on some other racers. Then the kids and I went up and got some grub. PLeanty of fruit, licorice, bagels and muffins for everyone. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of long bike training. Have I mentioned that yet:P Event comments: As always, the City of Bellingham put on a fantastic race. I will be back year afte ryear after year. This is one of my favorites in the area. Last updated: 2010-03-23 12:00 AM

So, we had about a 45 minute drive to get to the race. We left the house 50 minutes before the race started. Luckily, my wife is a wicked fast driver and got us there just in time.
I had planned on a 15 minute run and a 10 minute swim, but didn't have time for any of it.
