Swim
Comments: Yeah, I was fairly happy with my swim. I actually drafted for about 300 yds. That was cool. I just followed the feet in front of me. What would you do differently?: The swim is still holding me back. I need to start putting in more pool time and maybe take a lesson or two. I lost 2 minutes to the overall winner on the swim alone. Transition 1
Comments: This transition is a little weird. The race is a point to point, so all swim gear has to be put in a bag with your race number on it. All bike gear has to be put in the bag to start with, so T1's are long across the board. I struggled though. I slipped and fell 1X when I was running with my bike to the mount line. Then I fell 3 more times trying to mount and get clipped in. I don't know what the heck my problem was, but I was sure irritated. What would you do differently?: Ummm, learn how to clip in to my pedals. I seriously had a bad dream about this a few days ago. I figure I lost at least 2 minutes dinking around at the mount line. Bike
Comments: I was happy with my bike ride. It took me a few miles to shake off the bad transition and get in the groove, but once I was there it was great. I drank gatorade and ate powergel bursts. I think they worked well. What would you do differently?: Ride faster. Transition 2
Comments: At last, a good transition... What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Run was great. I didn't drink anything and I think it worked just fine. It slows me down and I seem to cramp if I drink on the run. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Crossed the line and hung out with the fam for awhile. What limited your ability to perform faster: My crappy bike mount. Event comments: This is a great race. Next year, I won't screw up my bike mount. Had I gotten on my bike the first time, I would have been 4th or 5th overall. Less than 1 minute seperated places 5-10. Oh well. I knocked 10 minutes off my time from 2 years ago. Consistent training is paying off. Last updated: 2010-03-23 12:00 AM

This race is always so fun. We ride the ferry over the day before and spend the night at the Boyd's house on the Puget Sound. We had fresh crab and pizza for dinner and stayed up way too late yakking around the beach fire. Awesome times!!!
I actually got in about 10 minutes of swimming before the race started.
