Pre-race routine:

Spent the night at home and got up at 3 am to get ready. Ate standard breakfast of oatmeal, banana and raw almonds. Plus espresso.
Event warmup:

Used foam roller and then swam for about 10 minutes.
Swim
  • 36m 34s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 14s / 100 yards
Comments:

WOW! I do not consider myself a good swimmer. But I have IT band issues right now and knew my run would suffer and figured why not push it harder on the swim. YEAHHHHHH!
What would you do differently?:

At the end I had a guy zig-zagging in front of me and it did cost me alot of time. I probably should have taken a deep breath and swam underneath him. :)
Transition 1
  • 01m 11s
Comments:

Fastest in my ag by 17 seconds. :)
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 1h 39m 46s
  • 26.1 miles
  • 15.70 mile/hr
Comments:

I am NOT a good cyclist because I don't do it enough and I am afraid of going fast. This is so clearly where I need to get better and will make up serious ground next year.
What would you do differently?:

My nutrition got way way way messed up and I had stomach cramps and could barely eat.
Transition 2
  • 01m 22s
Comments:

I was 3/19. I'll take that. I could have been first by not wearing socks but seriously that would have saved me 15 seconds.
Run
  • 54m 40s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 48s  min/mile
Comments:

Miles 1-3 produced the worst cramps in my upper stomach area that I have ever felt in my life. I was actually crying while running it was so bad. I could not eat or drink on the run. 9/19 is horrible for me. I'm a good runner. At miles 4 I took off. At mile 5, a girl in my AG passed me. I made the mistake at RBR of passing the person and then losing at the end. This time I got right on her back until about 5.75 miles, and then turned on the juice and flew to the finish. I ended up beating her on the run by 11 seconds. It was worth it. :)
What would you do differently?:

Figure out the nutrition or figure out how to NOT swallow so much air while swimming.
Post race
Warm down:

Used foam roller, had lunch, got a massage.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

IT band issues. Knee pain. Severe stomach cramping.

Event comments:

Great race. The run is weird but it's still a great race.
