Swim
Comments: Couldn't believe my time when I pulled myself out of the water. I hit the wall at 6:40 and crossed the transition mat at 6:55. I have never had so much adrenaline pumping through my veins in all my life. During the first 200 my chest was almost burning and I had to talk myself down and slow things up. Guess it helped me out!! My eyes got as big as the moon when that red board came pushing through the water!! Very happy with my swim time and ready to improve even more! Transition 1
Comments: Fastest T1 yet. Shoes and socks went on well and my bike was in a good place too. What would you do differently?: This is a good transition time for me I am happy with it. Times will improve over time and I will have to work on that too. Bike
Comments: Well I wasn't happy with this result. At 2.5 miles I had a front tire blow out. It was just under a 6 min change (5'52"). Hit split when I stopped and again when I got back on my bike. Thank goodness for CO2's!! I was shooting for a 1:18 overall and would have achieved that if not for the flat tire and I would have broke 18mph as well. Well nothing gained by complaining so I have taken this as a learned experience and am going look forward to the next Tri!! I really need to focus on the bike anyway as this is my weakest sport. I was also suprised to see that I changed my tire in less than 6 min. This was my first flat on the road too. I did have to laugh just a bit. The night before my brother asked me if I have ever had a flat out riding and I said "NO" so.........thanks BRO!! What would you do differently?: That's easy NOT get a flat tire!!!!! No foreign object in the tire I just think it was the tubes time to go. Oh lucky me!!:-) Transition 2
Comments: Again, small transition area and bike was in a good location. Very happy with T2. Run
Comments: Wish I could go faster!! I need to work on some more brick work and get my old legs use to running after the ride. Loved seeing my sons on the course at about 3 blocks to go yelling at me to keep going. They should have been at about every 100 yrds yelling at me. 2 water stations put in just the right place. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. I would have maybe kicked it in just a bit sooner than I did but that wouldn't have made much of a difference. This will all come in due time. Consistancy in the key and I am working on that. Post race
Warm down: Drank several bottles of water and loved the cold towel. Some stretches and walked back to find my boys on the course and thanked them for helping in the tri and encouraged some runners as they came in. What limited your ability to perform faster: Flat tire and most likely the humidity Event comments: Best Triathlon yet. Loved the DJ at the end announcing racers as they came across the finish line. Loved to see all of the T3 people there and my family as well. Cold towels were a welcomed suprise and food was great. Even some Starbucks coffee!! Took home a tube of "That Butt Stuff" and a $15 certificate to "Road ID". This event just furthered my love for the triathlon community and shows us all that training pays off when it counts.
