Pre-race routine:

Ate my morning oatmeal and coffee.
Event warmup:

Watched the marathon start. Jogged a couple hundred meters to the 25K start, used the park restrooms one last time. Small event so no lines. Did some stretches.

Comments:

Planned from the day I signed up to consider it a Training Run, not to get caught up in racing anybody. But just use it to put miles on the body.
Ran with a 24 ounce bottle of perpetuam, didn't seem to make me feel better or worse. Water stations had Accerlade? Too sweet.
I started off slow, trying to ease into a steady pace. HR was ok at first. Ran by myself for about 5 miles, till a guy caught and passed me, said he thought it was 9:30 pace. No mile markers on the course, so never knew the pace. Last two miles were hard, had no more lift in the legs, hips became a little tight. Blister started to form on second toe.
What would you do differently?:

Not eat meatloaf and veggies the night before. Only got 5 hours of restless sleep.
The previous Sunday I did a 10 miler, but on Monday came down with a sore throat. So this week might have had a factor of why the run wasn't so great.
Ran the race at 212lbs, weighed myself at home afterwards and was 209.5.
Post race
Warm down:

Hobbled back to truck. Really stiff getting out of truck at home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Sore throat and slight cold kept training to a minimum the previous week. Ok with the time, although really died out on the last two miles or so.

Event comments:

It's a very small scale race/event. The LRC sponsors it. And the director of this years race is a Ironman Triathlete. It's a barebones event, no medals/shirts ect.ect. They did get the marathon course certified and is the final event in the NW that people can use as a BQ.

I'm happy with doing it and would do it next year. Still need to shed some weight. Groin and lower abdomen is still a problem.

Performance: Below average
At the 10.5 mile water station, clicked my watch at 1:37. My HR was high all day. Average 168, Seemed that everytime I looked at it, it said 171. Maxed out at 180 on the climb up the 8% grade by Semiahmoo. At the 10.5 mile marker, ran along side another runner and kept up a conversation, noticed my HR was still around 170. Did not feel like it was hard to chat.
Course: Flat sea level portion with good wide shoulders, county roads, two climbs and some slight rolling hills. Very scenic.
