Swim
Comments: Haha this was so terrible! Freaked out in the water (as I'd done the day before too)- got panicky, started breathing really fast, couldn't get myself to just stick my face in the water (and even if I could've, it wouldn't have worked because I was hyperventilating). Threw in the towel immediately, flipped on my back, and did backstroke the entire way. Bad for navigation and speed, but good for calming down. I was just happy I finished the swim. What would you do differently?: Umm, do freestyle! Transition 1
Comments: Wetsuit got stuck on my right arm and my heels. Couldn't get my tri top onto my wet body- it took a good 20 seconds to get it unrolled and pulled down. What would you do differently?: RUN--not stumble--from the water to transition. Try to dry off before putting shirt on. Practice jumping onto bike and getting into shoes once on the bike. Would also grab water before getting on the bike. Bike
Comments: Thirsty at this point, but felt good. Probably could've gone faster. Glad I didn't bother putting socks on. What would you do differently?: Practiced turns. Transition 2
Comments: Don't remember much about T2. But apparently it was better than T1. Very nice to have dry socks to put on. Was so annoyed when there were no more drinks on the way to the run. I was parched at that point! Run
Comments: After I got some Gatorade, I felt better. Run was pretty slow on the whole- I was in a group that wasn't too speedy and had enough energy to sprint all-out at the end. But I was comfortable and my legs didn't hurt, which was a pleasant surprise. What would you do differently?: Get ahead of the slow group. Go faster. Post race
Warm down: Nada (bad, I know). Pounded a bottle of Gatorade and a couple of small containers of OJ. Ate a banana and half a pancake- wasn't hungry. Looked for more water. Found none. Met a bunch of Sunrise Tri team members and chatted with Danielle. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing physical- just wasn't pushing myself super hard. I was psyched to finish. Event comments: Course was very pretty and set up well. Volunteers were friendly. Great announcers. My dad had a lot of fun as a spectator. But they needed more drinks, both during and after the race. Oh and also more port-a-potties. I waited on line for one for at least 15 minutes. Last updated: 2010-03-29 12:00 AM

Got up at 5:00, ate a bowl of oatmeal, left the house around 5:45, got to the race at about 6:15 for a 7:00 start.
Got into the water, waded around a little. Didn't have time for much more; next time I'd get there 15 minutes earlier.
