Overall Rank = 33/180
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 6/14
Pre-race routine:

up at 5am. Took 5 units of insulin and ate a banana and a power bar. Took 25 of Levemir last night. Usually ive been taking 30 but wanted to cut it down some. Not so good bc BS was 250 before race. Took 3 units to even it off.
Event warmup:

Jogged maybe 8-10 minutes. Ankle still busted and debated wearing ankle brace. I did because this is the first race where I will be pushing it and didnt want to mess it us anymore. This thing just seems like it is never going to get better.

Comments:

Felt comfortable. Stuck behind Tiffany Kitto. She is a great runner and not too shabby to run behind either!! She ended up getting second overall. Wanted to be around 6:30/pace but close enought. Kind of was just hoping fro that pace.
What would you do differently?:

heal ankle and speedwork
Transition 1
  • 00m 45s
Comments:

This was a horrible transition. I could not get helmet on and had trouble getting shoes off. Just a lot slower than i could have done
What would you do differently?:

maybe practice transition.
Bike
  • 28m 41s
  • 10 miles
  • 20.92 mile/hr
Comments:

Tailwind going out probably around 26-27 going out. Tried to hammer it a bit and gain time bc i knew that headwind was going to kill me. Passed a bunch. Hit turn around and hit me like a ton of bricks. Out did 11:30 back I did 17:10. Bad wind. Passed by about 2 strong cyclers here.
What would you do differently?:

harder efforts in training.
Transition 2
  • 00m 40s
Comments:

Another disappointing transition. Helmet got stuck. Had trouble putting shoes on bc of ankle brace.
What would you do differently?:

go faster
Run
  • 15m 5s
  • 2 miles
  • 07m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

I wanted to do this one in 14:00 very unrealistic. Sun was starting to beat and legs just werent firing. Wind on bike killed them a bit. This is when i was thinking i need to do more bricks. Kind of disappointed because I wanted to be around 57:30. But there was no way.
What would you do differently?:

BRICKS
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of brick workouts.

Event comments:

Stinks because I did the race 5 seconds faster last year and definatly wanted to improve but 5 seconds short. Seems like my age group is on steroids too.
