Pre-race routine:

Woke up late and forgot almost everything. BG was low. Ate snickers marathon bar. Had to wear ankle brace on right ankle because still bothering me a bunch.

Jog around Bourbon Street and parallel to race start street.

Comments:

Very frustrating at the start of this race. At the expo I made sure I was going to be in front of the walkers/joggers. But some how they all must have been behind the Kenyans. First 2 miles I was running around walkers/joggers and zig zagging on sidewalks and around spectators. At one point I ran by myself on a parallel just to pass a bunch of people. At this point was was just debating if I should throw the race and just do some moderate pace training. A little before mile 3 it finally got better. I passed mile 3 at 24:08. This is not where I wanted to be. Anyway I felt comfortable at 7:30ish/pace. Humidity started to kick in around mile 4 and was drenched.

Ive been doing so much longer slower stuff I wasnt use to pushing the pace. I was not use to running this uncomfortable or pushing the pace. I was so temped just to slow down not because I couldnt run the pace just because I didnt feel like exhurting myself.
What would you do differently?:

More speedwork. Maybe some hills

Warm down:

Jogged walked to car to get change of close.

Post race activities were suppose to be fun but it was a bust. Too crowded ran out of beer and food right around where the main attraction band was coming on

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Busted ankle Thousand of people at the start in the way and lack of speedwork
