Was so happy to start running. Felt good, decent control of HR in the early going, but still have a tendency to go hard.

Event comments:

Wow the weather was rough on us. 45F, 20-25mph sustained WNW wind with gusts in the 30-35mph range. Light rain. Organizers still made it happen, but only mentally tough competitors made it out alive. Live through this one and all others are easy. Wind whipped cold, light rain, slick roads, major headwinds, tough bike course.

Course: tough bike course into a heavy 20mph headwind to start. Blowing me all over the course. Hilly or at a minimum rolling course, lots of potholes and some chip and seal. Worst part on the return was doing 30+mph on a wet road with so many treacherous potholes and more obviously seems. Mental toughness required.
