Pre-race routine:

Got to transition a little before 6 (opening time) and was greeted by a huge line. Transition didn't actually open until closer to 6:30 which caused a lot of crowded chaos.
Event warmup:

Stretching, short run, easy swim.
Swim
  • 18m 41s
  • 1094 yards
  • 01m 43s / 100 yards
Comments:

Much better swim than expected considering my swim training was minimal. Got lucky and our wave started between the sets of big waves. Caught up to the slower swimmers in the wave before and tried to draft but found it way too frustrating and just went at it on my own. Missed catching the waves on the return to shore and got caught under one breaker which threw off my rythm. Overall a good performance.
What would you do differently?:

Train better
Transition 1
  • 02m 57s
Comments:

I should really work on learning to jump onto the bike and get into the shoes while moving. My time would be greatly reduced.
Bike
  • 46m
  • 15.53 miles
  • 20.26 mile/hr
Comments:

Glad to see my bike performance is consistantly improving.
Transition 2
  • 01m
Comments:

Poor organization on the race committee's part; they needed more racks and space them farther apart! I had to carry my bike over the others that were already there and then lift someone else's bike off of my stuff before I could get my bike on the rack. To top it all off, I forgot to fasten my race belt and had to run back to get it before leaving transition.
What would you do differently?:

Not forget my number
Run
  • 23m 55s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

Pretty good run. I wish I had done more interval training to increase my speed though.
Post race
Warm down:

More stretching

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Silly mistakes

Event comments:

Other than the organization of opening the transition and not having enough space for the people registered to rack their bikes, the event went pretty smooth.
